Someone asked me, “Have you seen a Ghost? I said “No”(perhaps, I have not seen yet!). Then, the person asked “Do you believe in Ghosts?” Well, I had no definite answer for this question. So, I said “I am not sure to say NO! May be they exists and I haven’t seen one”. The person started arguing with “if you have not seen one yet then you should say they don’t exists.”
Now, the conversation become interesting.
I said lightly, “See, I have not seen many things, but they do exists! So, I can not say NO for the things that I have not seen!
The person said, “This is true but you don’t need to see Taj Mahal or Pyramid or Statue of Liberty to believe in their existence! Those are seen and known to be present by billions of people. These comes under General Knowledge. But, Ghosts are different, they don’t exists! And science says you shouldn’t believe in something that you haven’t seen yet!”
I said, “Well, Ghosts or other life forms are not a physical entity to compare the logic with your given example. Anyway, then can you prove they don’t exists?” I said again “Till, I don’t get a conclusive/convincible answer I can’t say surely say they don’t exists! “
The person asked me, “Why you are so adamant on this? You are a researcher, you work for Science! You should not say something like this unscientific!”
By now this topic was turned more interesting! I felt, this guy need a plausible logic. Why I can’t deny the existence of so called Ghosts or other form of life? Am I non-scientific? Even if I have never seen them, have I ever felt their existence? If you are also wondering with these questions… below is my crazy thoughts on it.
I said to him, “Let me take you back to early 16th (year 1500 to 1550 or something like that) Century.” I said “Imagine you and me are sitting and chatting while drinking tea/coffee in a room. A friend of us comes near us and tells us, “Do you know there are many life forms that are surrounding you two!” What would be our reactions then? I again said “We will laugh at him right? Because we could not see anything any living things surrounding us at that time.” The person responded “Yes!”.
I said “Well, that is NOT right at all! we know that even if we could not see any life form at that time, now we understand that, there are millions of microorganism exists, surrounding us! Thanks to the invention of initial microscope concept by Zacharias Janssen (1585), subsequent light microscope concept and protozoa discovery by Antonie van Leeuwenhoek (1674) and so on till date. We could see and study these life forms. Now we know much of about them. So, I am agree that I have not seen a Ghost or such life form yet. But that does not mean that they do not exists at all! May be one day Science will come up with some tool (may be different than microscope or upgraded from of Microscope or any other specialized equipment) and then we could see them or understand more about them. Who knows? Science may achieve this soon! So, not seeing something dose not necessarily mean they do not exists! Well, I am agree that I have not seen a ghost or another form of life. And as a science followers, I do not promote any disbelieve or baseless stories. May be science will disclose this aspect and allow me to say strongly, No! Ghosts do not exists! Science has immense potential may be it need to explore this topic with a different approach! I do not know.. “
The person said, “I am done with you Prabodha”. I am going to invent some scientific tools…
I said, “Dear friend, but, Please do not afraid to Ghosts (if they exists), there must be many good ones as well, like good microorganism! 😁🤩
